FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia freshman Colter May was named the CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 26, 2017.

Southern Virginia freshman Colter May was named the CAC Athlete of the Week after winning his division and taking sixth overall at the Hornet Harrier and Commonwealth Challenge in Wincester, Va. May won the Commonwealth division with a 6K time of 20:13, which placed him sixth overall in a field of 117 runners. May's strong placing helped the Knights to a third-place team finish.

Frostburg State, Marymount, Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's, and Southern Virginia competed last week, while Christopher Newport, Salisbury, Wesley, and York were idle ... Christopher Newport is ranked No. 11 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rankings ... Frostburg State junior Robert Romano finished eighth in a field of 69 runners as Frostburg finished third at the Messiah College Invitational. He covered the 8k course in 28:33.90 for his second top-10 finish of the season ... Mary Washington junior Calhoun Stirling finished ninth overall at 20:21 at the Shenandoah University Hornet Harrier Invitational on Saturday. Mary Washington finished in sixth place in the team standings.
