FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport junior second baseman Grace Wild and CNU junior Aubrey Bates swept the CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 11, 2019.

Christopher Newport junior second baseman Grace Wild hit .706 at the top of the Captains lineup, helping CNU win all six games this week ... Went 12-for-17 with 10 runs scored and four extra-base hits (2 doubles, 2 triples) ... Drove in five runs and stole three bases ... Also perfect defensively in 11 total chances

Christopher Newport junior Aubrey Bates started three games for CNU, going 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA in 16.0 innings of work ... Allowed just eight hits while striking out 16 batters ... Gave up just one run in three appearances ... Improved to 4-1 with a 1.50 ERA on the season with 26 strikeouts in 28.0 IP.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury's Kaleigh Edwards hit .375 for the week in which Salisbury went 2-1 in three game. She slugged .750 for the week getting a two-run home run against The College of New Jersey in the third inning, which resulted in the eventual game-winning run in a 4-3 victory...Salisbury's Shannon Powell appeared in all three games for Salisbury, in relief, earning a win and a save in a 2-1 week for the Sea Gulls. She held off a late push by Cortland in a 4-2 win to pick up the win, and recorded the save in 2 2/3 innings in a 4-3 win against The College of New Jersey....Frostburg State's Olivia Ford hit .571 with five runs scored and five stolen bases as Frostburg defeated both Rhode Island ad Gallaudet ... She posted four hits and two walks in the two games...York's Alyssa Harhigh had a big week during the Spartans' spring trip. For the week, Harhigh hit .552 (16-for-29) with nine runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI in eight games. She kicked off the week with two hits, three runs scored, a home run and four RBI in the win over Regis. Later in the day, she had a two run homer in the win over Mitchell. In the doubleheader split with Eastern, Harhigh went a combined 3-for-7 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI. She also had a pair of stolen bases for the day. In Thursday's doubleheader, Harhigh went 6-for-8 with a run scored and three RBIs as York split with Houghton and Concordia-M'head. She closed the week with four hits in two games against Bates and Roanoke. She scored two runs with a pair of doubles and an RBI. For the season, Harhigh is hitting .476 with 13 runs scored, four doubles, four home runs, and 17 RBI. She also has three stole bases and a slugging percentage of .857...Mary Washington's Danielle Newman hits safely in all five of UMW's games in Myrtle Beach, batting .533 with three doubles, two triples, eight RBI and six runs scored. She registered two RBI in four of the five games, walking twice and striking out three times for an obp of .556 and slugging percentage of 1.000...Mary Washington's Jamie Purtell gained three victories this week, as Mary Washington competed in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She allowed 18 hits and five earned runs in 22.1 innings for a 1.57 ERA, with two walks and eight strikeouts. ...Southern Virginia's Krystal Kemp had a strong week for the Knights going 1-1 on the mound and hitting .444 for the week with a pair of homeruns and four RBI's.
