YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Lauren Rothfeld was honored as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 5, 2016.

Salisbury senior Lauren Rothfeld was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 16.5 points, 7.0 steals, and 5.0 rebounds per contest in a 2-0 week for the Sea Gulls. Rothfeld shot 50% from the field and 50% from three-point range, knocking down 1.5 three-pointers per game. She also shot 80% from the free throw line last week. With seven steals in both games, Rothfeld now ranks in the top 15 nationally in steals per contest with 4.8.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. CNU is ranked No. 11 by the WBCA and No. 13 by D3hoops.com, while UMW is ranked No. 17 in both polls ... CNU and UMW remain unbeaten on the year at 6-0 ... CNU, UMW, Marymount, and Salisbury are each 2-0 in CAC play ... CNU junior Sam Porter led the Captains in scoring (15.5 ppg) last week in a pair of CAC wins while also notching 6.0 steals per contest. Porter nearly tallied a triple double against Frosburg State (20 pts, 9 steals, 7 reb). CNU head coach Bill Broderick recorded his 100th win in just his 123rd game at CNU with an 81-51 victory over Frosburg State. The Captains set a facility record for rebounds in a game with 65 against the Bobcats. CNU is 6-0 for the fifth time in program history ... Frostburg State's Kirsten Rayner averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in three games last week. She posted a week-high 18 points in a loss to nationally-ranked CNU ... All-American senior center Brianne Comden helped keep No. 17 Mary Washington undefeated, as she scored 19 points in 20 minutes to go with seven rebounds in a 65-43 win over Frostburg State, and then added 19 points in 23 minutes on 8-for-12 shooting at York on Saturday. For the week, Comden shot 61.5% from the field (16-26), and made six of seven free throws. She leads the Eagles in scoring for the season ... Marymount junior Nicole Viscuso helped the Saints open league play at 2-0 with a pair of double-doubles. Viscuso averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last week. On the year, she boasts averages of 14 points (8th in CAC) and 7.8 rebounds (6th in CAC) per contest ... Kobe Chaney led St. Mary's this past week by shooting 80% from the field as well as averaging 4.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest. Chaney contributed a season-best four blocks twice while tallying a season-high 10 points at Marymount ... Southern Virginia's Shelby Winsor has scored in double figures in 13 of 14 her last games, including eight straight dating back to last season. Winsor leads the Knights in scoring and rebounding this season ... Wesley's Alexus Stroud averaged 23.0 points 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Wolverines. She drilled 5-of-6 three-pointers against Marymount and netted 27 points along with nine rebounds in a win over Southern Virginia.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
