FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- St. Mary's senior Lacey Brown and Salisbury sophomore Emily McQuay earned CAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for April 9, 2018.  

Offensive Player of the Week

St. Mary's senior Lacey Brown collected CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling five goals, two assists, six caused turnovers and five ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. Brown opened up the week with her 12th career hat trick, and fourth of the season, with three goals, a career-best four caused turnovers and three ground balls in a 13-12 overtime win at Marymount. She closed the week two goals, two assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a victory over Southern Virginia. Her fourth point of the day vs. Southern Virginia marked her 100th career point.

Salisbury sophomore Emily McQuay was honored as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after causing three turnovers to help the Sea Gulls pick up an 18-6 win over Christopher Newport in CAC action. She also recorded one ground ball and one draw control in the win. McQuay and the SU defense limited the Captains to a season-low 13 shots and six goals, their second-lowest scoring output of the year.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury (12-0) took over the top spot in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national rankings this week with 22 of a possible 25 first-place votes. York (No. 7) and Mary Washington (No. 10) each remained in the top-10 ... Carly Wilson led Christopher Newport with eight points and five assists last week. After posting two helpers against Salisbury on Wednesday, she helped CNU register a 15-8 victory over Marymount on Saturday. Against the Saints, she posted six points, including her first hat-trick of the season. With her five assists during the week, she also bumped her total to 35 this year. That currently ranks sixth on the program's all-time single-season list ... Junior Morgan Cavey led Frostburg State in scoring last week as the Bobcats finished 1-1. She capped the week with five goals and one assist in a 14-11 win over Wesley ... Senior Holly Hudson led Mary Washington with three goals and three assists on the week, including two goals and two assists against York ... Marymount senior Kellen Cannon had a seven-point week with two goals and two assists in an overtime loss to St. Mary's and a team-high three goals against Christopher Newport. She also added five draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Bridgette Stacom totaled 10 draw controls last week. Stacom leads the league in draw controls (63) and ranks fourth in caused turnovers (16) ... St. Mary's junior Caitlin Katchmar grabbed six draw controls and four ground balls while chipping in five goals in a 2-0 week for St. Mary's. Katchmar began the week with four draws, two ground balls and two goals in the overtime win at Marymount before picking up two ground balls and two draw controls plus her sixth career hat trick at Southern Virginia ... Salisbury senior Krissy Murphy notched a hat trick in Salisbury's 18-6 win over Christopher Newport. Murphy's three goals came on just three shots ... Southern Virginia freshman Hannah Thayn scored her first goal of the season this week in rout of Sweet Briar ... Wesley junior attacker Fallon Fore netted six goals along with collecting nine draw controls and causing a turnover last week ... York sophomore Devin Hursey led the Spartans to wins over Wesley and Mary Washington last week, totaling four goals and one assist. Hursey started the week with a goal and an assist in limited playing time against Wesley. In a 9-7 road win at Mary Washington, Hursey had three goals. For the season, Hursey has 27 points on 17 goals and 10 assists in 10 games. She is 10-for-16 in free position shots for the year while she also has 12 ground balls, two draw controls and eight caused turnovers. Sophomore defender Alexis Hart spearheaded a York defense that allowed just one goal on three shots vs. Wesley and held Mary Washington to seven goals. Hart posted a career-high seven draw controls in the win over Wesley and notched three ground balls, a draw control and one caused turnover vs. UMW. For the year, Hart has 26 draw controls, 15 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers in 10 games for the Green and White.
