Wesley Freshman Aleya Cummings and Mary Washington Sophomore Madeline Duvall Named CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Wesley freshman Aleya Cummings and Mary Washington sophomore Madeline Duvall were selected as the CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 19, 2016.

Wesley freshman Aleya Cummings secured CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after continuing her torrid start to the year with two goals in each of the Wolverines' victories last week. Cummings scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Rosemont and led Wesley to a 3-0 trumph over Lehman, registering the game-winning tallies in both contests. With 12 goals on the year, she currently leads the CAC and the nation in scoring.

Defensive Player of the Week

Mary Washington sophomore goalkeeper Madeline Duvall earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording a pair of shutouts in a 2-0 week for the Eagles. Duvall totaled three saves throughout the two shutouts, helping UMW improve to a 4-2-1 start to the season.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport jumped from unranked to No. 11 in the Sept. 13 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings ... CNU (5-1), Marymount (4-2), Wesley (4-2), and Mary Washington (4-2-1) boast winning records so far this year ... CNU fell for the first time in a 1-1 week, dropping a 1-0 contest to Virginia Wesleyan before bouncing back with a 2-1 win over DeSales ... Frostburg State finished the week 1-1, led by one goal and one assist from freshman Brooke Shehade ... Marymount freshman Karen Reyes put together a career-best game on Saturday, having a foot in all three goals in the 3-0 victory over Hood with five points off two goals and an assist. She assisted the opening goal to senior Kirsten Campbell and followed with the final two goals off connections with senior Chloe McAuliffe. Reyes now sits fifth in the league in scoring, while sitting fourth in points ... Southern Virginia's Tatiana Monsen scored the game-tying and go-ahead goals in a 3-2 victory against Randolph. She leads the team in goals (3rd in CAC) and shots.
