York Freshman Maddy Mann Earns CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- York freshman Maddy Mann was honored as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Nov. 10, 2015.

York freshman Maddy Mann was honored as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after claiming a pair of first-place finishes and breaking a pool record in the Spartans' quad meet last Saturday. Mann set a new York pool record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.58. That time ranks first in the CAC and 10th in the nation. She also grabbed first place in the 100 freestyle at 54.35 and second in the 500 freestyle at 5:13.23. Her 500 freestyle mark ranks atop the CAC and 21st in Division III.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Mary Washington and Salisbury are each 2-0 in CAC competition ... In CAC action last week, Salisbury defeated Frostburg State 185-77, St. Mary's edged York 108-95 and Mary Washington topped Marymount 192-69 ... Frostburg State sophomore Macey Nitchie recorded two first-place finishes vs. Salisbury on Saturday, touching first in the 50 freestyle (28.26) and 100 freestyle (1:01.81) ... Mary Washington senior Abby Cox won two individual events as the Eagles topped Marymount on Saturday. She won the 500 freestyle at 5:23.04 and the 200 IM at 2:14.50 ... Salisbury junior Layne Gable picked up three individual victories in additional to two-relay victories in a pair of meets last week. Against Penn St.- Altoona, Gable swam the third leg for the Gulls' 200-yard medley relay victory in 28.49 seconds and then went on to win the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.80. The next day against Frostburg State, she nabbed victories in the 200 butterfly (2:39.51), 200 IM (2:41.29) and the 200-meter medley relay.
