The Mary Washington women's swimming team continued its record winning streak at CAC Championships with its 27th straight title on Saturday at St. Mary's. The Eagles are the only team have ever won the title in the 27-year history of the CAC, the only team across all 21 conference sports to hold such a streak.

Mary Washington continued its dominant reign atop the CAC at last year’s championship meet, winning 17 of the 18 events to run away with its CAC-record 26th-straight title. The battle for second place was neck-and-neck for the second straight season in 2016, as just 43 points separated second-place York from fifth-place Marymount, with Salisbury and St. Mary’s sandwiched in between.

Marymount junior Morgan Alston was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking a school record and securing a pair of first-place finishes in the Saints' 112-91 victory over Frostburg State. Alston notched first in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:01.55, setting a new MU program record. That time also ranks 16th in Division III this season. She later placed first in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.72, and also claimed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:09.80.

Mary Washington freshman Julia Geskey was selected as the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after winning three events to help the Eagles defeat Gettysburg on Saturday. Geskey was the leadoff swimmer on the winning 200-yard medley relay that finished with a time of 1:51.38, and followed with individual wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:59.61 and the 200-yard backstroke at 2:12.04.

Marymount freshman Hayley Elizondo was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after recording three individual victories and a top relay finish in the Saints' 155-107 CAC victory over Salisbury on Saturday. Elizondo cruised to victories in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.69), 200 breaststroke (2:34.11), and 200 IM (2:14.23), while also helping the Saints 400 medley relay (4:12.27) to gold.
