Mary Washington Junior Kait Brogan Tabbed as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. --  Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was tabbed as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Oct. 11, 2016.

Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after winning the main singles draw at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational last weekend. Brogan defeated Danielle Thompson of Morgan State, 6-4, 6-7 (1), 10-5, in the finals after downing teammate Danielle Mirabella, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the semifinals. On Friday, she topped Lin Robertson of Loyola in the first round, and Jordan of Morgan State in the second round. Doubles play was cut short due to rain on Saturday. Brogan closes the fall with a record of 7-2.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

The majority of CAC teams have wrapped up their fall 2016 campaigns ... York has the lone remaining fall match on the schedule, as the Spartans will travel to Immaculata on Wednesday for a non-conference match ... Christopher Newport concluded it's fall slate of action on Saturday, opening the dual season with a win over Oberlin, 7-2, before falling to top-20 host Carnegie Mellon, 9-0. The Captains will start the spring season with a 1-1 overall record, including a win over the Yeowomen of Oberlin, who finished 2016 ranked 40th in the nation. Johanna Ranta-aho won at No. 1 singles against Oberlin and also paired with Kate Huck to win at No. 2 doubles ... Penn State Harrisburg fell to Lebanon Valley 7-2 and Susquehanna 6-3 last week to conclude its fall season ... Katie Wagner led York to its second win of the year, a 9-0 blanking of Messiah on Thursday in the Spartans' lone match of the week. Wagner won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1, and also notched 8-3 first doubles win with partner Darian Naill. Wagner now owns 23 career singles wins for the Spartans.
