Frostburg State's Weinberger, St. Mary's Ertman & Barall Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Teams

St. Mary's seniors Melissa Barall and Benjamin Ertman and Frostburg State junior Maddie Weinberger have been named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America A-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Barall was a first team selection, Ertman landed on the second team, and Weinberger collected third team honors.

Christopher Newport sophomore Johanna Ranta-aho was selected as the CAC Player of the Year to lead the 2018 All-CAC Women's Tennis team. Mary Washington freshman Rachel Cooper and Salisbury freshman Sydney Soto shared Rookie of the Year honors, while Mary Washington head coach Patrick Catullo was tabbed as the CAC Coach of the Year for the 13th straight season.

Mary Washington sophomore Rachel Summers earned CAC Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after picking up singles and doubles wins in the Eagles' victory over No. 15 Washington & Lee on Saturday. In doubles, she paired with Caroline Mosberg to defeat Valerie Marshall and Lily Horsley at the No. 2 position, 8-7 (4), to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead after doubles. She then scored a pivotal 6-3, 5-0 (ret.) win at No. 2 singles over Marshall as the Eagles gained the one-point victory. She improved to 11-3 on the spring in singles play.
York Tops Southern Virginia in CAC Women's Tennis First Round

The York College women's tennis squad opened their stay in the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference tournament with a 6-3 win over Southern Virginia in the opening round on Friday in York. The match was played indoors at the Wisehaven Tennis Center due to the morning rains in York.

Mary Washington sophomore Rachel Summers was chosen as the CAC Player of the Week for the third time this year after going unbeaten in singles and doubles for the Eagles in a 2-0 week. She went 2-0 at No. 2 singles against Salisbury and TCNJ, and also picked up a No 2 doubles win vs. TCNJ with Caroline Mosberg. In singles, she scored a 7-5, 6-0 win at Salisbury over Julia Kwedi, and tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win over Grace Minassian at TCNJ.
