Frostburg State Freshman Kayla Truesdel and Salisbury Sophomore Ashley Jackson Earn CAC Women's Track & Field Weekly Honors

YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State freshman Kayla Truesdel and Salisbury sophomore Ashley Jackson were named the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 27, 2015.

Frostburg State freshman Kayla Truesdel was named CAC Track Athlete of the Week after collecting a victory in the 400-meter dash at the Marietta Alumni Open. She captured gold in the event with a time of 1:00.88. She also had a hand in a runner-up finish for the 4x400 relay team. Her win in the 400 marked the third-straight meet in which she has claimed victory.

Salisbury sophomore Ashley Jackson was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after tallying a pair of top-five finishes at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus. Jackson placed second in the triple jump with a 35'-0.5" effort, and added a fifth-place mark in the long jump at 16'-3.25".

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

At the Collegeville Classic, Mary Washington and Salisbury each claimed top-four team finishes. Mary Washington took third, while Salisbury nabbed fourth in the team standings ... Mary Washington's Claire Harrington finished second in the pole vault at Ursinus with a leap of 10'-6". Taylor Cockerille took third in the shot put with a throw of 37'-10.5", and the Eagles finished third and fourth in the mile, with Teagan Young taking third at 5:16, and Rachel Lewis finishing fourth, also at 5:16. The women's 4x400 meter relay finished second at 4:12, and the 4x800 relay finished in first place ... Wesley's Elizsha Streeter ran the CAC's fastest time in both the 60 meters (8.02) and 200 meters (26.22) at the Tiger Open hosted by Princeton. She defeated all Division III athletes in both events ... York senior Caroline DeLany earned a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:57.46, the top 3,000 time in the CAC this season. She then ran the second leg of the Spartan distance medley team that finished third with a time of 13:48.35.
