FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- Salisbury junior Glory Ebinama and Christopher Newport senior Hannah Shoemaker were named the CAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 30, 2017.

Salisbury junior Gory Ebinama was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after breaking the school record and registering the 17th-fastest time in the nation in the 60-meter dash at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason. Ebinama earned a third-place finish with a time of 7.89 seconds, breaking the previous SU record of 7.93 set by Chanel Beadoin in 2014-15. 

Field Athlete of the Week

Christopher Newport senior Hannah Shoemaker was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after posting the top effort among non-Division I competitors in both the shot put and weight throw during the Liberty Kickoff last week. During the meet, she registered a 12.41-meter effort in the shot, which ranks over a foot better than any other competitor in the CAC has recorded this year. Later, she also added a 13.79-meter heave in the weight throw.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State senior Kayla Truesdel was the top Division III finisher and took second place in the 60-meter dash in 7.92 at the 20th Annual Bison Open at Bucknell. The time qualified her for the ECAC Championships for the third-straight meet ... Mary Washington junior Jillian Weisbeck had the top finish for the UMW women at the George Mason Patriot Games, taking second in the 3,000 meters at 10:43.65. ... Salisbury's Taylor Bailey captured two top-six finishes on Saturday Patriot Games hosted by George Mason. Bailey earned a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 16' 1" and took third in the triple jump at 34'-3" ... Southern Virginia freshman Mesi Havea placed fifth in the women's shot put with a first through of 11.46m ... York senior Alayna De Bruin set a new personal record in the 3,000 meters (10:42) at the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell. That time is the best in the CAC so far this year. Freshman Sydney Fitzwater finished with a best throw of 10.81 meters in the shot put and a best toss of 11.31 meters in the weight throw for the Spartans.
