CNU's Riley Cook & Max Wayne Named C2C Athletes of the Year

The 2021-22 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Year have been announced. The recipients are below:

Female Athlete of the Year: Riley Cook - Christopher Newport
Putting an exclamation point on the greatest season of women's soccer in conference and program history, Riley Cook has been named the C2C Female Athlete of the Year. She has previously been named a finalist for the CWSA Division III Athlete of the Year after garnering National Player of the Year honors from the United Soccer Coaches. The first student-athlete in CNU history to earn first team All-American honors three or more times in her career, Cook finished her tenure with one of the most decorated seasons of all-time. A first team All-Region, All-Conference, and All-State pick, Cook was named the Conference Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the NCAA Championship after leading CNU to its first ever national championship. She completed her career as the NCAA active leader in points scored and her 90 career goals are the most by an active player, shattering the conference scoring mark by 27 career tallies.

Male Athlete of the Year: Max Wayne - Christopher Newport
Honored as the USILA National Player and Defenseman of the Year, Max Wayne anchored the back line for the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team throughout the 2022 campaign. Helping the squad advance to the NCAA Elite Eight, the fifth-year senior ranked 10th in the country with 55 caused turnovers and was one of only 14 players to finish the season with at least 50 takeaways and 50 ground balls. For his efforts, he was a first-team All-Conference, All-State, All-Region, and All-American selection.
