Salisbury Draws First-Round Bye In NCAA Field Hockey Tournament
Salisbury University, which won its 14th-straight CAC field hockey title Saturday with a 2-0 decision over St. Mary's, was one of eight teams to draw a first-round bye in the 2008 NCAA Championship Tournament.
Salisbury (15-3) will travel to Collegeville, Pa., Saturday, Nov. 15, for a second-round matchup against the winner of the Castleton (14-7) vs. Cortland State (15-2) first-round contest. In the other half of the regional bracket, host Ursinus (17-2) will face the winner of the Lynchburg (17-5) vs. Sewanee (14-6) first-round game.
Game times for regional contests are TBA.
Saturday's winners will play Sunday to advance to the national semifinals, which will also be hosted by Ursinus College (Nov. 22-23).
Salisbury will be making its 24th NCAA tournament appearance, including 15 straight, in its programs history. The Sea Gulls have won four national championships, three of which happened between 2003-05.
