Salisbury's Kandice Hancock Named Field Hockey South Regional Player Of The Year

Salisbury senior midfielder Kandice Hancock was selected by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as the 2010 Division III South Region Player of the Year.

The Westover, Md., native returned to the field this past season after an injury took her out for the majority of the Sea Gulls' 2009 campaign. Hancock was an offensive mainstay for Salisbury in 2010, registering 21 points on nine goals and three assists.

Earlier this year, she was named a Capital Athletic Conference first-teamer for the third time in her career before being named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region first team for the second time.

Hancock's list of accolades throughout her career is lengthy; as a sophomore, she was named a second-team All-American in addition to being named the CAC Player of the Year. At the conclusion of her freshman season in 2007, she earned CAC Rookie of the Year honors.

The season is still not over for the midfielder, who was selected to play in the 2010 NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star game. Hancock will take the field on Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. at Christopher Newport University, the site of this year's NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship weekend.
