Wesley Drops 2-1 Overtime Decision To FDU-Florham In Opening Round Of ECAC South Tournament

Wesley College's field hockey team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, 2-1, in overtime in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Quarterfinal on Thursday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. 

The Wolverines finish the season at 12-10 while the Devils improve to 11-10 and will face the winner of Alvernia/McDaniel on Saturday, November 10.

After a scoreless first half, Tristin Burris put the Navy & White ahead with a goal at 38:39.  Wesley's lead was short lived; however, as FDU-Florham's Catherine Krawiec tied the game off a pass from Lanie Andrews.

The score would remain deadlocked at one goal apiece as Devils goalkeeper Amy Defnet made 16 second half saves, including two on penalty shots.  Marybeth Weimer also made three defensive saves for FDU-Florham.

After also recording a defensive save in the second half, Niki Ikeda put the game away 3:39 into the overtime period with a goal off a corner pass from Kelsey Kistle

The Wolverines outshot the Devils, 26-10, for the game, including 21-1 in the second half.

Elizabeth Groom made three saves between the cage for Wesley.
