Salisbury Field Hockey Head Coach Dawn Chamberlin Named NFHCA Region Coach of the Year For 10th Time

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its regional Coaches of the Year on Wednesday and Salisbury head coach Dawn Chamberlin earned the honor for the South Region.

Chamberlin has collected the award 10 times, now with back-to-back honors in 2013 and 2014. She has been named the National Coach of the Year three times, most recently in 2009.

This season, Salisbury went 19-2, winning the Capital Athletic Conference championship for the 18th time. The Sea Gulls made their 30th NCAA tournament appearance and advanced to the national semifinals for the 13th time in program history, falling one step short of the national title game, 2-1, to Bowdoin College.

Statistically, Salisbury had one of its best seasons, scoring 104 goals, just four shy of the all-time program record, and dishing out a program single-season best 71 assists.

Chamberlin will now be considered for the National Coach of the Year award, which will be announced next month.
