Salisbury Enters 2022 C2C Field Hockey Season As Favorites

Salisbury was selected as conference favorites in the 2022 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Field Hockey Preseason Poll. The rankings were based on the preseason Massey Ratings, with Christopher Newport in second and Mary Washington in third. 

The 2022 season kicks off on Thursday, September 1 and concludes with the C2C Field Hockey Championship taking place on November 2 & 5. Teams will be seeded based on head-to-head conference results following a single-round robin schedule. 

Below is a brief preview of each team entering the 2021 season: 



#1 Salisbury
: Coming off its third consecutive conference championship and 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, Salisbury returns a solid group of seniors with a plethora of experience, including NFHCA All-American Second Team honoree McKenzie Mitchell and NFHCA All-Region selections McKenzie Jamison and Mack Dinopoulos. Mitchell led the Sea Gulls and finished fifth in the C2C in scoring with nine goals in 2021. Dinopoulos finished the year tied for the team lead and tied for fourth in the C2C in assists with five helpers while Jamison tallied six goals with a pair of assists to total 14 points on the season. The team defense will be led by Isabel Larrabee, who earned All-C2C First Team accolades after her freshman season, and goalkeeper Mackenzie Peacock who is anticipated to step into a starting role in the cage after seeing time in the spring and fall 2021 seasons. 


#2 Christopher Newport
: During the 2021 campaign, the Christopher Newport field hockey team advanced to the NCAA Tournament after claiming the program's fourth regular season league title since 2013. Under the guidance of Head Coach Carrie Moura, the Captains return an award-winning contingent from last year's squad, headlined by first-team All-American Abby Asuncion. Overall, the squad welcomes back nine total starters, including reigning C2C Rookie of the Year Brooke Billhimer and All-Region midfielder Marcella Sabbagh.


#3 Mary Washington
: Mary Washington welcomes back past All-Conference selections Emma Bernard, Annie Grace Louthan, Sydney Keating, and All-Region choice Lauren Boucher for 2022. Bernard ranked among league leaders in scoring in her first season, with 13 goals, while Keating and Boucher will provide transition from the midfield, and Louthan will solidify the Eagle defense.
