The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2023 field hockey season. Christopher Newport's Abby Asuncion was tabbed C2C Offensive Player of the Week, while the Captains Alexis Morales captured C2C Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Abby Asuncion, Christopher Newport

Abby Asuncion posted her school-record 13th career multi-goal effort while leading CNU to a 4-0 victory at Susquehanna on Tuesday. With her performance against the River Hawks, she pocketed her 115th career point, tying Christopher Newport Hall of Famer Belle Tunstall for the most in school history. On Sunday, she came back and helped the Captains record a 5-0 win against Denison. Making an impact on the other side of the field, she came through with one of the biggest defensive plays of the game after deflecting a shot on the Big Red's lone corner attempt of the contest.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alexis Morales, Christopher Newport

Alexis Morales helped lead Christopher Newport to a pair of shutout victories last week. In a 4-0 triumph at Susquehanna, she recorded her first career defensive save in the first quarter while preventing the River Hawks from breaking a scoreless tie. Later, after the Captains secured the lead, she blocked a shot on a corner attempt in the second quarter to help quiet the hosts. On Sunday, she ranked second on the team with 49 minutes of action while helping limit Denison to only two total shots during a 5-0 victory. She also made her presence felt on the offensive end, posting an assist on the game-winning goal in the first quarter after setting up the opening strike on a penalty corner.

OFFENSIVE: Arden Hunteman, Salisbury; Grayson Scott, Mary Washington

DEFENSIVE: Mack Dinopoulos, Salisbury

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Arden Hunteman scored the second goal in Salisbury's 2-0 win at Mary Washington on Saturday, a counterattack strike in the dying moments of the third quarter. The freshman ranks second on SU with seven goals, good for seventh in the league… Sophomore Grayson Scott scored a pair of goals in Mary Washington's 3-2 win over St. Mary's College on Monday. She leads the Eagles with 10 goals and 23 points… Mack Dinopoulos steered a strong effort from Salisbury's defense in their 2-0 win at Mary Washington on Saturday. Salisbury has recorded six straight shutout victories dating back to Sept. 17.
