Salisbury's Reardon, Goetz Claim C2C Field Hockey Weekly Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2023 field hockey season. Salisbury's Molly Reardon captured C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Sea Gulls Christine Goetz was named C2C Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Molly Reardon, Salisbury

Molly Reardon scored her first career hat trick in the Sea Gulls' season finale against Rowan. She netted three goals on four shots to become just the second SU player this season to score a hat trick.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Christine Goetz, Salisbury

Christine Goetz anchored a Sea Gull back line that only conceded six shots in a 5-0 win over Rowan on Wednesday. Salisbury wrapped up the regular season with its 10th shutout victory in 12 wins.

HONORABLE MENTION

OFFENSIVE: Caroline Hughlett, Christopher Newport

DEFENSIVE: Alexis Morales, Christopher Newport

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Caroline Hughlett led Christopher Newport with a career-high five points during a 4-2 victory at Mary Washington on Saturday. Against the Eagles, she registered CNU's first two goals, including the game-winner that broke a 1-1 tie in the second quarter. That was her fourth clincher of the year, equaling the second-highest total by a freshman in program history. She also notched her eighth assist of the season, marking her 26th point of the year. That moved her to third on the school's all-time freshman scoring list, just three shy of matching the program standard… Alexis Morales helped anchor the defense during Christopher Newport's 4-2 win at Mary Washington on Saturday. Against the Eagles, she played 55 minutes and starred on the penalty corner unit, which brushed aside all five of UMW's attempts. On an individual level, she cleared two of the corners in the second half and broke up a 3-on-1 rush in the 40th minute. Meanwhile, on the other end, she added a tackle along the sideline that flipped possession early in the first quarter, which resulted in CNU's opening goal.
