St. Mary's Junior Tanner Brooks Nabs CAC Men's Basketball Weekly Award

YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's junior Tanner Brooks was honored as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 26, 2015.

St. Mary's junior guard Tanner Brooks was named the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 25.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in leading St. Mary's to a 2-0 week and a share of first place in the CAC standings. Brooks started the week with several season-highs against York, notching season-bests of 36 points, 10 field goals made, 10 free throws made, six three-point field goals made, and five steals. He followed that up with his second double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the showdown with Marymount.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

St. Mary's victory over Marymount last Saturday forced a three-way tie atop the CAC standings between Christopher Newport, St. Mary's and Marymount, each with 8-2 records ... Christopher Newport received votes in last week's D3hoops.com national rankings ... Mary Washington senior Taylor Johnson became the 18th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points as the Eagles defeated York on Saturday, 76-65. He scored 25 points in the game with six three-pointers. He has reached the 1,000 point and 500 rebound plateaus in the past two weeks. ... Salisbury junior Wyatt Smith averaged a double-double in two games this week, leading the Sea Gulls with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Wesley on Wednesday and following that effort with 13 points and eight rebounds in a victory over Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday.
