Carnegie Mellon's Li & Folker Claim CAC Men's Golf Weekly Honors

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its sixth weekly awards of the 2019-20 men's golf season. Carnegie Mellon juniors Jason Li and Jason Folker claimed CAC Men's Golfer of the Week.


MEN'S GOLFERS OF THE WEEK: Jason Li & Jason Folker - Carnegie Mellon

Juniors Jason Li and Jason Folker of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team helped the Tartans break two team school records while winning the 18-team Savannah Invitational March 9-10 at the par 72, 6,845-yard The Club at Savannah Harbor Golf Course. Li and Folker headed the team in the final round that carded a school record round of 19-under par 269, as the two tied for second for second individually in a field of 90 golfers after carding a 54-hole school record 204. Li fired rounds of 70, 68 and 66 while Folker recorded rounds of 70, 67 and 67. Over the three rounds, Li carded 14 birdies with Folker carding 15 and an eagle. Folker's rounds of 67 were his career-best while Li's round of 66 tied his previous school record score and he ends the season with 10 rounds of even-par or lower.

LEAGUE NOTES

Christopher Newport freshman Alex Price polished off a strong 54-hole event with two rounds under par and a tie for 22nd on the individual leaderboard. Registered a career-low 68 in the second round. The star rookie wrapped up his event at two-under par with a 214 (71-68-75) and has now finished at par or better in all three of his collegiate tournament appearances...York freshman Even Sitts put together a strong performance to open the season at the Savannah Invitational to open the Spartans' spring season. Sitts led the way for the Spartans as he finished tied for 26th. Sitts completed the tournament at one-under par as he shot 73, 67, and 75 for a total of 215. He finished 12 strokes back of individual champion James Mishoe of Guilford as Mishoe shot a total of 203 (13 under par)...Sebastien Bonte was Mary Washington's top finisher at the Callaway Invitational on March 2. In the rain-shortened, 36-hole event, Bonte shot a +3 (147), shooting a +1 (73) in the morning round and a +2 (74) in the afternoon. He finished in second place among 44 golfers at the event, in which UMW finished higher than third ranked Huntington College.
