CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2019-20 men's golf campaign. Christopher Newport freshman Alex Price claimed CAC Men's Golfer of the Week after a pair of under-par rounds.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Alex Price - Christopher Newport

Making his collegiate debut, CNU freshman Alex Price fired back-to-back 71's to finish tied for fourth at the 2019 Don Scalf Invitational. His performance led the Captains to a fourth place finish as a team in the 36-hole tournament. Price (-2) is the first rookie to finish his first career tournament under par in at least 15 years as no other Captain has accomplished the feat since statistics were moved online in 2005. He poured in nine total birdies in 36 holes and finished just three strokes behind individual medalist Andre Chi (Methodist).

LEAGUE NOTES

York junior Luke Fayocavitz led the Spartans to their second straight runner-up start to begin the season as York finished second at the McDaniel Fall Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown. Fayocavitz led the way for the Green and White as he finished tied for second. Fayocavitz shot a 76 on Saturday followed by an even-par 72 on Sunday. Fayocavitz finished two strokes back of tournament champion Kevin Keane from McDaniel who shot 72 on Saturday and 74 on Sunday to earn the win. He is second on the team in stroke average as he is averaging 75.5 strokes per round...Babson senior Chris Bornhorst finished fifth with a 1-over par total of 143 to help Babson post a one-shot victory at the Williams Invitational back on September 22. After opening with a 3-over 74 he shot a final round 69, his lowest score of the year, to help the Beavers rally from a nine-shot deficit. The top-five finish was the third in as many starts this fall for Bornhorst.
