York Senior Tyler Hutson and Junior Caleb Abney Sweep CAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- York swept this week's awards as senior Tyler Hutson and junior Caleb Abney were selected as the CAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for March 30, 2015.  

Offensive Player of the Week

York senior Tyler Hutson was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling eight goals and four assists in a 2-0 week. Hutson began the week with a career-high nine points in a win over Marymount, posting a career-high tying seven goals and two assists in the victory. He scored his nine goals on just nine shots including a trio of man-up goals. He followed that up with a goal and two assists in a come-from-behind victory at Mary Washington.

Defensive Player of the Week

York junior Caleb Abney was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after allowing just 6.11 goals per game with a 63.6 save percentage in a pair of CAC wins for the Spartans. Abney began the week with seven saves and six goals allowed in York's 14-7 win over Marymount, playing 57:52 minutes in the win. He followed that with 14 saves and just six goals against in a road win at Mary Washington. The 14 saves marks the fifth time this year that he has reached double figures in saves in a game. For the year, Abney owns a 7.48 goals against average and a 59.1 save percentage.

In the USILA Rankings, Salisbury is No. 12, and Frostburg State is receiving votes ... In Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings, Salisbury is No. 15 and Frostburg State is No. 18 ... Frostburg State (3-0), Salisbury (3-0) and York (2-0) are unbeaten in CAC play ... Frostburg State (11-0 overall) is one of just eight teams left undefeated in the nation and was the first to 11 wins. Junior Erik Geiser won 22-of-31 faceoffs and collected 14 ground balls in wins over St. Vincent and Christopher Newport last week ... Senior Jack Bondurant led Mary Washington with two goals and an assist against York in the Eagles' only action of the week ... Carson Kalama led the Salisbury offense with six goals last week, including four in the Sea Gulls 9-8 overtime loss to No. 9 Stevenson ... St. Mary's has won three straight, including a 2-0 mark last week. Goalkeeper Joe Casey posted a 6.50 GAA last week, while Eric Simon has now scored at least one goal in six straight games for the Seahawks ... Wesley's Eric Bohns caused five turnovers and was credited with nine ground balls in 1-1 week ... York's Tyler Hutson registered his 250th career point on Saturday against Mary Washington. For the year, Hutson leads the Spartans in scoring with 42 points on 26 goals and 16 assists.
