Salisbury Junior Eric Spangler Earns CAC Men's Tennis Weekly Honor

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury junior Eric Spangler received CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors for March 10, 2015.

Salisbury junior Eric Spangler was named the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after winning all six of his matches of the past two weeks, posting three straight-set victories at No. 2 singles and three wins at No. 1 doubles with Daniel Albers. The Sea Gulls went 3-0 as a team during that time, including victories over regionally-ranked Franklin & Marshall and Haverford. Spangler won his first singles match in the run, 6-0, 6-0, and then took his next match 6-0, 7-5. In Salisbury's most recent match, Spangler topped the 22nd-ranked player in the region, Haverford's Dais Nakayama, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play, Spangler and Albers dropped just 10 games in their three triumphs, winning 8-0, 8-6 and 8-4.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Mary Washington is ranked No. 17 in the ITA National Rankings and No. 4 in the Atlantic South Region, while Salisbury (No. 9) and Christopher Newport (No. 10) are also regionally ranked ... Several CAC teams went on spring break trips last week, with CNU and UMW traveling to California and York in Hilton Head, S.C. ... Frostburg State travels to Mary Washington on Friday for the first CAC match of the year ... On a difficult road trip to California, CNU posted a 3-2 record including a win over No. 23 Whittier ... Mary Washington's Brandon Griffin went undefeated (4-0) against three nationally ranked teams in singles in a four-match western swing for the Eagles last week, including three three-set victories at No. 5 singles ... York's Kaltrin Bullaj went 3-0 in singles during the Spartans spring trip to Hilton Head Island. He is now 5-0 for the season with a 1-0 mark at No. 3 singles and 4-0 at No. 4.
