UMW’s Ladehoff, CNU’s Schaefer Earn C2C Tennis Player of the Week Accolades

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2024 spring tennis season.  Mary Washington junior Brock Ladehoff claimed C2C Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport freshman Kylie Schaefer was named C2C Women's Tennis Player of the Week.


MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brock Ladehoff, Mary Washington

Ladehoff led Mary Washington to two wins in three matches this weekend, with a pair of singles wins and one doubles victory. In a 5-4 win over Christopher Newport, Ladehoff gained a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Eddy Porsmyr Hansen, and teamed with Trevor Rein for an 8-5 win at three doubles. He then gained a 6-3, 6-4 win over Benedikt Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer on Saturday.


WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kylie Schaefer, Christopher Newport

Schaefer won both of her matches against Virginia Wesleyan before going 1-1 against No. 18 Carnegie Mellon ... She won with Megan Bauer at No. 3 doubles against the Marlins, 8-0, and earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mikisha Thomas at No. 4 singles ... Against the Tartans, Schaefer earned the lone win for CNU with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Ainika Hou at No. 6 singles ... Leads CNU with 12 wins in singles this season.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Gianluca Beaujon went 4-0 over Salisbury's back-to-back matches at Haverford and Franklin & Marshall on Friday and Saturday. He won both of his second singles matches and tag-teamed with Jhayden Pappas to win first doubles twice… Christopher Newport's Vincent Truong defeated Mary Washington's regionally-ranked Rishi Charan Shankar (UMW) 6-7 (2-7), 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. He also suffered an 8-4 loss at No. 1 doubles to the Eagles… Salisbury's Olivia Hall won both of her matches on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall. In first doubles, she and Gibelle Beaujon rolled to an 8-2 victory. In second singles, Hall bested Sophia Rhazali by a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) score… Pratt's Pallavi Verghese led the lineup and picked up a pair of hard-fought, come-from-behind victories in Pratt's 6-3 triumph over Baruch to remain perfect at 9-0. After securing an 8-7 (5) win at No. 1 doubles, she battled back to win 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (15-13) in the lead singles match to hand just the second loss to Ava Deguzman who now has a 43-2 career singles record. It was also just the second loss for Baruch (12-2) who already qualified for the NCAA tournament as the CUNYAC champion.
