SU’s Willenborg, CNU’s Weis Claim C2C Tennis Player of the Week Laurels

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth week of the 2025 spring tennis season. Salisbury's Asher Willenborg was named C2C Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Christopher Newport's Raine Weis claimed C2C Women's Tennis Player of the Week distinction.
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Asher Willenborg, Salisbury
Salisbury sophomore Asher Willenborg won all four of his top-flight matches as the Sea Gulls picked up two wins over the weekend. Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas teamed up for a pair of dubs in first doubles, besting Gettysburg (6-1) and Averett (6-2). In first singles, Willenborg won easily on Saturday (6-2, 6-3) and Sunday (6-1, 6-1).
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Raine Weis, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport senior Raine Weis won both singles matches in two contests at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida including her third win over a nationally-ranked opponent this year. She defeated No. 49 Abigail Penados from North Central for a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win. In a 6-1 loss to nationally-ranked Carnegie Mellon, Weis picked up a doubles and singles win with a pair of extremely narrow matches. Pairing with Kylie Schaefer at No. 1 doubles, the duo took down the Tartans top tandem, 7-6 (7-5). In singles, she outlasted Sarah Yang on the top line, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).

WOMEN: Gibelle Beaujon, Salisbury; Natalie Kim, Mary Washington
C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Ashton Legum won both of his matches at No. 32 Chapman in a narrow 4-3 loss by the Captains. Legum paired with Vincent Truong at No. 2 doubles for a 6-4 win against Julien Sanseverino and Ian Jordan. In singles play, he played at No. 4 and dropped his opponent, Matt Dewey, 6-0, 6-3… Salisbury's Gibelle Beaujon led the way as the Sea Gulls won all nine matches in a 7-0 sweep of Gettysburg on Saturday. Beaujon and Olivia Hall breezed through first doubles 6-1, then in first singles she posted perfect marks in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep… Mary Washington first year Natalie Kim went undefeated this week in a pair of matches in California, winning a pair of matches in both singles and doubles. She defeated Anna Tanaka of #32 Caltech, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5), at two singles, and defeated Natalie Sprenger of UCSC, 7-5, 6-3. In doubles, Kim and Addison Felts topped Anika Arora / Carissa Gerung of Caltech, 6-3, and then defeated Sara Beckman / Natalie Sprenger of UCSC, 6-3.
