UMW’s Rein, CNU’s Weis Capture C2C Tennis Player of the Week Laurels

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2025 spring tennis season.  Mary Washington's Trevor Rein claimed C2C Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Raine Weis was named C2C Women's Tennis Player of the Week.


MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Trevor Rein, Mary Washington

Sophomore Trevor Rein led #28 Mary Washington to a 4-3 win over #23 Christopher Newport on Saturday in the Eagles' lone match this week. He started the day at one doubles and teamed with Jack Riordan for a 6-4 victory over the Captains' Ashton Legum and Vincent Truong. He then scored a point in singles at one with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Truong, running his win streak to three straight at one.


WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Raine Weis, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior Raine Weis won both of her matches in a 7-0 shutout over Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon as the Captains improved to 7-6 overall this season. Weis paired with Kylie Schaefer for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and then downed Addison Felts at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-7). She collected her 60th career doubles victory, joining the top-five all-time at CNU, while adding her 30th career win at No. 1 singles to become just the fourth Captain to reach that mark.

WOMEN: Gibelle Beaujon, Salisbury


C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Gabe Smith won at both singles and doubles against nationally ranked Mary Washington. He earned a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles with partner Edvard Porsmyr Hansen and followed with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win against Albert Vladimirskiy at No. 6 singles… Salisbury's Gibelle Beaujon won four of her five matches for the week, going 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. In singles play she bested foes from Washington College (6-2, 6-1) and Franklin & Marshall (6-1, 6-3) in straight sets. In doubles, Beaujon and Olivia Hall took down duos from Washington (6-3) and Rutgers-Camden (6-0).
