UMW’s Fisher, UCSC’s Ghaffari Collect C2C Tennis Player of the Week Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 11th week of the 2025 spring tennis season. Mary Washington's Evan Fisher garnered C2C Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, while UC Santa Cruz's Melody Ghaffari was tabbed C2C Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Evan Fisher, Mary Washington
Mary Washington sophomore Evan Fisher scored a three-set win at three singles to give the 19th ranked Eagles a 4-3 team win over #25 Salisbury on Wednesday. Fisher scored a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over reigning C2C Player of the Week Gurv Suri for the clinching point.
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Melody Ghaffari, UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz junior Melody Ghaffari helped the Banana Slugs go 3-0 on the weekend, winning all three of her singles matches at the No. 3 spot. Ghaffari started the weekend with 7-5, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-3 victories over Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor before earning a 6-2, 7-5 victory against No. 25 Southwestern. Also, went 2-1 at No. 2 Doubles for the week.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Salisbury's Asher Willenborg won both of his top-flight matches to help the Sea Gulls push Mary Washington to the brink on Wednesday. Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas pulled out a 7-6 win in first doubles, then in first singles Willenborg rolled through the Eagles' Trevor Rein in straight sets (6-1, 6-4)… Christopher Newport's Vincent Truong captured wins in both singles and doubles against No. 14 Johns Hopkins. First, playing with partner Ashton Legum, he helped CNU secure the doubles point against the Blue Jays with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Daniel Ardila and Dylan Blenkiron. Then, taking on regionally-ranked Dylan Blenkiron at No. 1 singles, Truong captured a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win for the Captains lone point in singles play… Raine Weis won both of her matches to help Christopher Newport clinch a sweep of Randolph College. In doubles, she played with Kylie Schaefer for a 6-2 win against Lize van Veen and Lena Kersten. Then, in singles play on her Senior Day, Weis outlasted Kersten for a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) victory to ensure CNU the shutout.
