YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Ben Sorensen earned CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 22, 2015.

Mary Washington junior Ben Sorensen earned CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after finishing in first place at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by St. Mary's on Saturday. He finished as the Eagles' top runner for the second straight week, crossing with a time of 26:22 to complete the race 10 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Sorenson and the Eagles took second place in the team standings.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport (5th) and Mary Washington (9th) are ranked in the South/Southeast Regional rankings ... CNU's Grayson Reid led all Division III competitors and finished ninth overall with a time of 19:29.748 at the William & Mary Invitational, helping the Captains place second as a team ... Eight of the 10 CAC teams competed at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by St. Mary's, a meet that served as a preview for the 2015 CAC Cross Country Championships. The CAC Championships are set for Saturday, Oct. 31 ... Salisbury finished atop the team standings with five of the top seven finishers and 24 points, led by Connor Hesselbirg's second-place finish ... Mary Washington took second with 38 points, led by Sorensen's first-place finish and Ian Granger in third place ... Aidan Hennessey paced St. Mary's for the third straight week as Hennessey finished 23rd (20th in team scoring) out of the 95 runners ... Southern Virginia competed at the Maroon Invitational hosted by Roanoke on Saturday. The Knights took fifth out of seven teams, led by Jefferson Chandler in 12th place.
