YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State sophomore Robert Romano secured CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 13, 2016.

Frostburg State sophomore Robert Romano collected CAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after capturing the individual title at the Westmoreland Invitational for the second straight year. Romano crossed the line in 17:16.4 to claim first place, leading the Bobcats to the team crown. Frostburg State totaled 21 points with six runners inside the top 10.

Christopher Newport is ranked 28th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Preseason Coaches Poll. The Captains earned 56 points in the poll ... The first rankings of 2016 will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 13 ... Five CAC teams were idle last week - CNU, Mary Washington, Salisbury, Wesley, and York ... Marymount's Joel Juarez was the top Saints finisher at the Shannon Henretty Invitational, taking third place out of 80 runners, finishing the 8k in 29:16.70. It was the second straight week he placed in top-15, taking 12th the weekend before at Salisbury Fall Classic ... Penn State Harrisburg placed seventh at the LVC Dutchmen Invite, led by Edgar Makimoto in 32nd place ... St. Mary's also competed at the Shannon Henretty Invitational, placing fourth out of eight teams. Junior Scott Zimmerman was the team's top finisher in 15th place at 31:01.80. in the 8k ... Southern Virginia competed at the ODAC Championship preview meet at Washington & Lee. Hyrum Butler placed 22nd in the 8k with a time of 30:09.7 to pace the Knights.
