CNU’s Slaw and Alger Selected C2C Softball Weekly Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2025 softball season. Christopher Newport's Candace Slaw earned C2C Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Kate Alger received C2C Pitcher of the Week recognition.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Candace Slaw, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport sophomore Candace Slaw led the Captains to a 6-0 week, and a 12-0 start to the season by hitting .783 (18 for 23). The centerfielder stole six bases and scored ten runs as the 7th-ranked Captains swept Averett and then won four straight games in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Slaw had a perfect four-for-four day vs. Arcadia and also recorded three games with three base hits. Four of her 18 hits were doubles, as she posted a slugging percentage of .957.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Kate Alger, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport senior Kate Alger won all three starts this week, and threw a no-hitter against NYU in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Alger allowed just one earned run in 18 innings of work and struck out 17 while walking just four. She improved her record to 5-0 on the year, and the no-hitter was the fifth of her career. Her other victories this week came at home over Averett and over Methodist in the Classic in Raleigh.

PITCHER: Isabella Purdy, Salisbury
C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Salisbury's Ellen Stockman, the Brunswick, Md. native, racked up seven RBIs this past weekend while batting .500 at the plate and helping the Sea Gulls to a 4-0 weekend. Her highlight of the weekend came against Stockton when she blasted a grand slam into left field lifting the Sea Gulls to a five inning victory. Stockman's other home run came in the bottom of the seventh inning against Stockton with the team down 3-0. Her home run started the rally for SU to comeback and win the game 4-3… Isabella Purdy, the Havertown, Pa. native, picked up three wins in a 4-0 weekend for No. 13 Salisbury. Purdy only gave up seven hits and two earned runs during 10 innings of work for the weekend while holding batters to below a .200 batting average. Purdy tallied five strikeouts on the weekend.
