CNU’s Slaw, Martin Claim C2C Softball Weekly Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2025 softball season.  Christopher Newport's Candace Slaw was tabbed C2C Player of the Week, while the Captains Jamie Martin earned C2C Pitcher of the Week distinction.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Candace Slaw, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport sophomore Candace Slaw led the Captains to four victories this week with nine hits in 13 at bats for a .692 average. The sophomore speedster also scored seven times and stole three bases as the third-ranked Captains improved to 23-1. She posted three doubles and a triple and also drove in four runs as CNU ran its winning streak to 11 straight games with two home wins over Bridgewater and two over Meredith.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jamie Martin, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior Jamie Martin made Captains history on Sunday when she threw a five-inning perfect game versus Meredith College. Not only did she retire all 15 batters she faced, but she struck out all 15, nine swinging and six looking. It was her second perfect game, and she also has two no-hitters in her career. Martin upped her record to 9-1 on the season as the third-ranked Captains improved to 23-1 on the season.

PLAYER: Brigid Ward, Mary Washington

PITCHER: Taylor Hudson, Mary Washington; Sydney Adolfson, Salisbury


C2C HIGHLIGHTS

In a pair of games this week, Mary Washington's Brigid Ward went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a home run, and also drove in three runs. In Game 1 against Eastern Mennonite, Ward went 1-for-2, while walking once and stole a base. In Game 2, she smacked an inside the park home run -- the first homer of her season -- while driving in all three runs on that one swing… In her lone start this week, Mary Washington's Taylor Hudson tossed five innings of three-hit ball in the Eagles' 4-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite. Hudson yielded just a pair of walks, while also striking out a batter en route to her shutout performance… Salisbury's Sydney Adolfson, the Newtown, Conn. native, posted three wins in three starts this past week for the Sea Gulls. All three wins were in complete game fashion only giving up three earned runs between all three games along with seven strikeouts.
