UCSC’s Seymour, CNU’s Nuckols Receive C2C Women's Track Weekly Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 11th week of the 2024-25 track and field season. UC Santa Cruz's Kenzie Seymour claimed C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Ellie Nuckols was named C2C Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kenzie Seymour, UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz's Kenzie Seymour continued her record-breaking season at the Bryan Clay Invite, setting a new program record in the 3000m steeplechase after crossing the line in 10:43.21. Seymour's time also ranks her in the top 10 in NCAA Division III with the seventh fastest time so far this year.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ellie Nuckols, Christopher Newport
Christopher Newport sophomore Ellie Nuckols jumped up the national leaderboard in the heptathlon while leading Christopher Newport at the New Captains Classic last week. During the combined event, she posted a score of 4,310, which marked the sixth-highest total in school history and the 25th-best mark in Division III this year. Flashing her versatility, the sophomore posted the top mark in five of the seven disciplines after winning the long jump (5.45 meters), shot put (9.63 meters), 100-hurdles (15.19), 200 (26.44), and 800 (2:27.26). She rounded out her weekend with a 1.40-meter clearance in the high jump and a 20.76-meter heave in the javelin.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Christopher Newport's Sydney Trussell won the 400 while establishing a new personal-best in the event during the New Captains Classic on Saturday. The senior completed the race in 57.49, which marked the fastest clocking by a Captain since 2014. It also marked the top effort in the league this year by nearly a full second… Salisbury's Karia Forvil anchored the winning 4x100 to a school record of 47.82, which places them 40th nationally this past weekend at the Eastern Shore Challenge. She also won the 100 meters and 200 meters… Salisbury's Emma Smyser won the pole vault with a C2C leading jump this weekend at the Eastern Shore Challenge with a PR jump of 3.25 meters (10-08.00). She also won the 400 meters with a new PR time of 58.93.
