CNU’s O'Connor, Morrison Collect C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2025 women's lacrosse season. Christopher Newport's Faith O'Connor claimed C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Brookelyn Morrison was named C2C Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Faith O'Connor, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport sophomore Faith O'Connor established a new career-high with five goals during a 15-11 victory at No. 17 Roanoke on Saturday. Her five tallies equaled the most by a Captain in a road game against a nationally-ranked foe since CNU Hall of Famer Kaitlin Quigley deposited six at No. 19 Mary Washington on April 6, 2011. Four of O'Connor's strikes came in the first half as the Captains built a quick 11-8 lead before she polished off the contest with one last goal in the fourth quarter to stymie Roanoke's comeback bid. Coupled with her three-goal performance last week against No. 21 Denison, she became just the seventh player in school history to notch a hat-trick against back-to-back top-25 opponents.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brookelyn Morrison, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Brookelyn Morrison helped control possession while leading CNU to a 15-11 victory at No. 17 Roanoke on Saturday. Facing an opposing attack that entered the contest ranked 15th nationally in shooting percentage and 25th in scoring offense, Morrison kept the ball away from the high-powered Maroons while securing 14 draw controls, which equaled the single-game school record and marked the most by any player in the league this year. Along with her work in the middle of the field, she also blocked two straight free-position attempts in the third quarter, notched her team-leading 30th caused turnover in the fourth frame, and scooped up a pair of ground balls, including one that extended a late possession which resulted in the team's 14th goal in the 55th minute.

HONORABLE MENTION

OFFENSE: Miranda Mears, Salisbury

DEFENSE: Abby Fleishell, Salisbury

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Miranda Mears piled up 10 goals across a pair of victories for No. 7 Salisbury this week, beginning with a four-goal effort against Neumann at home on April 2nd. She then fired a career-high six goals on six shots against the Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.) in an 18-11 win on Saturday afternoon to improve her side's record to 8-3 in 2025… Salisbury's Abby Fleishell provided the seventh-ranked Sea Gulls with two more strong outings across a pair of victories this week, collecting three draw controls with pairs of ground balls and forced errors against Neumann on Wednesday before chasing down five draw controls, adding two grounders and causing one turnover at St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday. Fleishell totaled eight draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the week.
