SU’s Doyle, CNU’s Rusinko Collect C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2025 women's lacrosse season. Salisbury's Grace Doyle picked up C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Maddie Rusinko garnered C2C Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace Doyle, Salisbury

Salisbury junior Grace Doyle was pivotal in a pair of Sea Gull wins this week, totaling six goals, five draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 2-0 week for No. 6 Salisbury. Her best outing came in Saturday's win over No. 12 TCNJ, firing a career-high four goals while forcing three Lion miscues and adding two grounders.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maddie Rusinko, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior Maddie Rusinko anchored the back line while leading the Captains to a 17-3 victory at Mary Washington on Saturday. Against the Eagles, the senior registered three caused turnovers, which was her highest total in two years. Her finest moment came in the opening period when she came through with a short-handed takeaway in the 10th minute, which led to a man-down tally that gave the Captains an early 3-1 edge. Later, she came back with two more strips in the fourth quarter, which capped off a 54-minute scoreless streak by the Eagles. Overall, the three goals surrendered by CNU were the fewest in a league bout since a 20-2 win over Southern Virginia on April 18, 2018.

HONORABLE MENTION

OFFENSE: Faith O'Connor, Christopher Newport

DEFENSE: Regan McDonnell, Salisbury

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Faith O'Connor matched her career-high with five goals while leading CNU to a 17-3 victory at Mary Washington on Saturday. Starring throughout the contest, she recorded a pair of strikes in the first half as the Captains built a 10-1 lead at the break. Later, she added three more over the final 30 minutes, including the last tally that locked up the 17-3 triumph. Her efforts headlined a 17-goal run by Christopher Newport, which marked the program's longest scoring streak in two years and matched the finest stretch in a road game since 2018. Meanwhile, coupled with her five-goal outburst at No. 17 Roanoke last Saturday, O'Connor became just the third Captain in the past six years to post at least five goals in back-to-back road tilts… Salisbury's Regan McDonnell was a primary disruptor for the sixth-ranked Sea Gulls across two ranked wins this week, piling up five grounders, caused turnovers and draw controls during the week while adding a goal and an assist. McDonnell scored in Wednesday's game at Shenandoah while adding one of each defensive stat before swarming the Lions on Saturday, adding four each of ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls while tacking on an assist in SU's third ranked win of 2025.
