Four CAC Players Named To The 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Soccer Teams

Four CAC players, including Salisbury sophomore goalie Andrew (Drew) Staedeli, York junior goalie Melanie Glessner and Frostburg State senior forwards Adria Graham and Stephanie Fazenbaker, were named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Soccer teams Thursday.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team. Staedeli boasts a 3.44 cumulative grade-point average, and is majoring in accounting.
Staedeli, named to the District 2 men's squad, has been the last line of defense on one of the toughest defenses in the nation in 2013. He ranks seventh in the country in goals-allowed average, surrendering just 0.42 goals per 90 minutes, while Salisbury sits second in the country in shutout percentage (.72). The Ellicott City, Md., native ranks 20th in all of Division III soccer in save percentage, as well, turning away shots on goal at a .863 percent clip.
Glessner, who became the 7th YCP student-athlete to earn Capital One Academic All-America last year (third team), was named to the District 2 women's team and will now be eligible to advance to the 2013 national vote.
Glessner has played in and started 16 games for the Spartans who head into next week's Capital Athletic Conference tournament as the second seed. Glessner has played in 1148:28 in goal as she owns a 0.63 goals against average with 44 saves and an .846 save percentage. She has notched four full shutouts and been a part of eight team shutouts for 2013. Glessner posted a season-high 11 saves in the 0-0 tie with Gettysburg. She ranks third in the CAC in goals against average while she has allowed just four goals in conference play.
Graham and Fazenbaker both earned a berth on the District 4 women's team. Both are returning Capital One Academic All-Americans. Graham, the two-time CAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year and 2012 NSCAA first-team All-American, was a first-team honoree. Fazenbaker, a first-team All-CAC player who ranked eighth in NCAA Division III last year with 15 assists, was on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America third team.
All four players are now eligible to be selected as an Academic All-American; that team will be announced on Nov. 22.
