York Outlasts Mary Washington 1-0 in Double Overtime for CAC Women's Soccer Championship

Sixth-seeded York defeated fifth-seeded Mary Washington 1-0 in double overtime to capture the CAC Women's Soccer Championship on Saturday in Fredericksburg, Va. The title is the third in program history for the Spartans, with the others coming in 2007 and 2013.

With the win, York became the first-ever No. 6 seed to secure the CAC title and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. NCAA brackets will be released on Monday at 1 p.m.

Deadlocked at 0-0 late in the second overtime, York senior Jamie Sokolis broke the scoreless tie in the 109th minute with a shot off a loose-ball deflection for the game-winner.

York senior goalkeeper Kate Lutte earned her fifth clean sheet of the season, making five saves, while UMW's Haley Randall notched four stops in the loss.

UMW held slight advantages in both shots (11-10) and corner kicks (5-4) over the Spartans.
