Christopher Newport's Perry, Wesley's Trujillo Receive CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors for Second Straight Year

For the second straight season, Christopher Newport senior Victoria Perry and Wesley senior Natalie Trujillo were named to the College Sports Information Directors' Association (CoSIDA) Women's Soccer Academic All-District team. The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District™ Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Last season, CNU's Perry was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection as well as a third team NSCAA Scholar All-East Region pick. This year, the Psychology major entered the year with a 3.64 cumulative GPA, while also minoring in Leadership Studies. She has earned Academic All-Conference honors in each of her first three seasons as a leader in the classroom, while also leading the Captains' offense throughout her career.
Perry, the 2014 CAC Player of the Year, has been a steady presence at the top of the Captains' attack for four seasons. She has climbed the all-time scoring charts at Christopher Newport and is now just one point shy of tying the record set by Emma O'Reilly, with 103 points. Perry is the all-time leader in assists, with 28, and ranks tied for second in career goals, with 37, to pile up 102 career points in 74 games. played. This season, the Purcellville, Va. native has put on another tremendous show for fans, leading one of CNU's all-time best offensive attacks with 25 points on eight goals and a career-best nine assists.
Wesley's Trujillo earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors again this season, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.98 over her academic career as a member of Wesley College's rigorous nursing program.
She has played a crucial role in the Wesley defense as a captain and leader on the field, helping the team to five shutouts this season. During the season, Trujillo and the Wesley defense limited opposing offenses without a goal for 425:00 consecutive minutes, earning a 3-0-1 record in four complete games over that time period.
