Salisbury’s Eustace, Rail Claim C2C Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2024 women's volleyball season. Salisbury's Gwen Eustace collected C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Sea Gulls Grace Rail earned C2C Defensive Player of the Week distinction.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gwen Eustace, Salisbury

Gwen Eustace was named MVP of the Margie Knight Classic with a trio of monster games for the Sea Gulls. She totaled 31 kills across 11 sets (2.82 K/S), swinging .367 for the weekend and twice putting up attack percentages north of .500. Eustace also locked won 16 blocks, including seven solo stuffs as Salisbury started the year 3-0.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace Rail, Salisbury

Grace Rail chased down 48 total digs over 11 sets (4.36 D/S) over the Sea Gulls' three wins at the season-opening Margie Knight Classic over the weekend. In a five-set victory over Swarthmore, she notched 26 digs. Rail also dished out 12 assists and landed seven service aces.  Rail helped Salisbury hold opponents to a .012 hitting percentage for the week.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Senior all-conference right side Chloe Crosen led #22 Mary Washington to a 3-1 record at the Virginia Wesleyan season-opening invitational, scoring a team-high 35.5 points. She recorded 35 kills against nine errors in 97 attempts, good for a .268 hitting average, including 12 kills in a 3-1 win over Kean… Christopher Newport junior Alyssa Dozier made a strong start to the season after posting 27 kills across three matches with a .286 hitting percentage. Dozier's standout performance came in CNU's victory over William Paterson, where she recorded 16 kills. She led the Captains in kills through the first weekend of play… Ashley Magley led the UC Santa Cruz attack last weekend, earning 42 kills including 15 in a five-set victory over PLU and 12 against Clarkson. Magley finished the weekend with a team high 42 kills, averaging 2.80 kills per set with a .255 hitting percentage… Freshman Jocelyn Fang led #22 Mary Washington this weekend at the Virginia Wesleyan season-opening invitational, scoring 36 digs in three matches. She posted 14 digs and added a team-high 17 kills on offense in a 3-1 win over Kean, and also posted 16 digs in a 3-0 win over Geneva on Saturday… Senior Noelle Starr was a defensive powerhouse for Christopher Newport, recording double-digit digs in all three matches. Starr's reliability was on full display, with no reception errors in two of the three matches. Her top performance was against No. 1 Juniata, where she posted a season-best 17 digs. Starr led the team with 44 digs during the opening weekend of play… Abigail Lee anchored the UC Santa Cruz defense, recording nearly 20 digs in three straight contests, averaging 4.27 digs per set. Lee also earned six service aces and dished out 10 assists on opening weekend.
