Christopher Newport’s Dozier, Salisbury’s Rail Named C2C Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2024 women's volleyball season. Christopher Newport's Alyssa Dozier was tabbed C2C Offensive Player of the Week, while Salisbury's Grace Rail claimed C2C Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alyssa Dozier, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Alyssa Dozier led the Captains offense this week, totaling 29 kills (3.22 per set) across three straight-set victories over Bridgewater, Susquehanna, and Catholic. Dozier's standout performances included a .500 hitting percentage in the sweep of Catholic, where she posted 9 kills on 18 swings with no errors. She also notched 10 kills on a .348 hitting percentage against Bridgewater and matched her effort with 10 more kills versus Susquehanna.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace Rail, Salisbury

Salisbury senior Grace Rail ran down 51 digs in the Sea Gulls' two wins on Saturday, averaging 7.29 digs per set. Rail put up 22 digs in a 3-0 win over Messiah, then in a 3-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan she set a season high with 29 digs.

DEFENSIVE: Noelle Starr, Christopher Newport; Abigail Manthey, Mount Mary


C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury's Kiley McTaggart racked up 22 kills with a hitting percentage of .271 in the Sea Gulls' two wins for the weekend. Her best performance came against Virginia Wesleyan, when she landed 13 kills… Noelle Starr anchored the back row for Christopher Newport this week, collecting 48 digs across three consecutive sweeps. She recorded 17 digs each in the wins over Bridgewater and Catholic and added 14 against Susquehanna, providing stability and defensive intensity throughout. Starr also contributed from the service line with 5 aces and distributed the ball effectively, adding 12 assists over the three matches… Mount Mary's Abigail Manthey averaged 6.43 digs per set in four contests.  Against Moody Bible, she recorded 43 digs, setting a new all-time single game record for MMU, in the five-set loss.
