York Junior Zach Hossler and Frostburg State Junior Greg Schneider Collect CAC Baseball Weekly Awards
YORK, Pa. -- York junior Zach Hossler and Frostburg State junior Greg Schneider were named the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for May 1, 2017.

York junior Zach Hossler was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after hitting .727 (8-for-11) with five runs scored, three RBIs, and two doubles in a 3-0 week for the Spartans. Hossler began the week with a 2-for-3 performance in a 5-0 win over 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon. Against Penn State Berks, Hossler was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double in the Spartans' 12-7 win. He closed out his week with three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs in the 12-3 win over Catholic University.

Frostburg State junior Greg Schneider picked up CAC Pitcher of the Week accolades after striking out a career-best 15 batters in a win over Mount Aloysius on Wednesday. Schneider fanned 15 of the 23 batters faced as the Bobcats posted a 10-1 win over the Mounties. He struck out the side in the first and seventh innings and fanned two batters in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings, while allowing just three hits and one earned run.

Salisbury secured the CAC baseball title for the second straight year, fifth time in the last six years, and 14th time overall with a unbeaten run through the six-team field ... The Sea Gulls earned the CAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. NCAA regional tournament selections will be announced on Sunday, May 14 ... In the April 27 NCAA South Regional rankings, Salisbury is ranked No. 2, while Christopher Newport is No. 7 ... Six CAC teams were in action last week, with four set to compete this week to wrap up the regular season ... Marymount senior Roy Coates had a strong showing on the field for the Saints last week, hitting .438 in four games for six RBIs, two home runs, two doubles, five runs and two walks for a .938 slug percentage. His best showing of the week was in game one of a twinbill against Bridgewater on Saturday for Senior Day, collecting three hits for a career-high five RBI (second most in program history in a game) including two home runs, also a career first for Coates ... Salisbury sophomore Jay Perry went 3-for-4 with a team-high three RBIs in the Sea Gulls' win over No. 1 Sheandoah on Sunday. Perry launched his ninth home run of the season, belting a three-run bomb to make the score final at 8-4. Micah Wells picked up his first save of the season for SU vs. Shenandoah, allowing just one baserunner on a walk in his three innings of work, striking out six of the 10 batters he faced ... York starter Joel Kenney threw 6.2 shutout innings in a win against No. 10 Randolph-Macon. Kenney scattered six singles as he struck out three and walked one as he shut down one of the best offensive teams in Division III. Randolph-Macon was held without an extra base hit for the third time all year and also were shutout for the first time all year. Kenney has been on an impressive run in his last three starts as he has thrown 21.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on 16 hits with 18 strikeouts and a mere three walks, good for an ERA of 1.28.
