FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport junior Courtnie Greene and Salisbury senior Tressie Windsor were selected as the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 23, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport junior Courtnie Greene was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a goal and two assists last week in helping the Captains wrap up a perfect CAC regular season.  On Thursday, she got things rolling in a 4-1 triumph at St. Mary's after assisting on the team's first two goals, including the game-winner. On Saturday in a nationally-ranked showdown with York, she drove home the game-winner with a second-half strike to help lock up the 4-2 triumph. Additionally, she was a standout presence on the defensive end and came through with her first defensive save of the season after making a stop off a penalty corner attempt by the Spartans in the first half.

Salisbury senior Tressie Windsor was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after picking up shutouts over York and Mary Washington last week while averaging 9.5 saves per contest. She made nine saves a 3-0 win against York on Wednesday, and followed that with a 10-save performance against Mary Washington in a 5-0 victory, which locked up the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament. Despite the 5-0 score, the game remained scoreless into the 53rd minute when the Gulls went on a scoring run. The two contests marked Windsor's two highest save totals of her four-year career.

In the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Oct. 17 Rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 5, Salisbury is No. 8, and York is No. 16 ... In the first NCAA Regional Rankings of the year, CNU (No. 1), Salisbury (No. 2) and York (No. 3) are the top three squads in the South Region ... Frostburg State senior goalkeeper Nicole Leighty stopped 23 shots last week in three games ... Senior Allegra Massey-Elim scored two goals and added three assists as Mary Washington defeated Frostburg on Thursday. She has nine goals and seven assists on the season ... St. Mary's senior goalkeeper Alyssa Thompson collected a career-best 17 saves in the loss to No.5 Christopher Newport. Thompson currently ranks second in the conference with 94 saves ... Salisbury freshman Camryn Dennis scored twice last week, including the game-winner vs. Mary Washington ... Kaila Hindt netted both goals in Wesley's two 1-0 victories on the week. Sidney Knott picked up a pair of shutouts in Wesley's two games last week. In the two games, she tallied 13 saves. Knott ranks fourth in the CAC in saves (64) and save percentage (.753) ... York senior Autumn Mallory became just the fourth Spartan in school history to eclipse the 100 career point mark with her second half goal against Christopher Newport on Saturday night. Mallory now has 101 points on 46 goals and nine assists.
