Christopher Newport junior Harry Nodwell was named the CAC Golfer of the Week after posting top-10 efforts in each of CNU's first two events this spring. Nodwell helped lead the Captains to an impressive fifth-place team finish in a competitive field at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, carding the best score of his career (-3) and finishing tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard. He shot a 70-72-71 at Jekyll for a three-round total of 213. In his first appearance of the spring, he shot a 71-74 at the Callaway Gardens Invitational to finish sixth out of 96 golfers with a one-over 145.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five of the seven CAC men's golf squads opened their spring seasons prior to this week ... The 2016 CAC Golf Championship is set for April 15-17 at Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Va. ... This year will mark the first three-day championship event and the first time the CAC champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament ... Marymount has played twice this spring, taking ninth of 16 teams at the Barton Intercollegiate and capturing the team title vs. nine teams at the Lynchburg Invitational. Transfer Keegan Boone tied for first place at Lynchburg with a four-over 75-73 (148). Boone placed 19th at the Barton Intercollegiate with an eight-over 77-75 (152). The team victory for the Saints at Lynchburg was the program's first since September of 2011 ... Wesley finished seventh of 12 teams at the Revolutionary Classic and ninth of 11 at the McDaniel Spring Invitational. Dylan Chessher was the Wolverines' top finisher at both events, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the Revolutionary Classic with a 77 ... York placed sixth at the Lynchburg Invitational, led by Tyler Newton's fourth-place individual finish with a five-over 73-76 (149).
