FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York seniors Ryan Cook and Landry Marshall swept CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for March 26, 2018.
Offensive Player of the Week

York senior Ryan Cook was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a career-high five points with a 100% shooting rate in the second-ranked Spartans' 15-6 win over No. 7 Salisbury on Saturday. Cook's five points came on three golas and a pair of assists. He also picked up a pair of ground balls in the win. Cook opened the scoring with an unassisted tally 3:36 into the second quarter. His next goal tied the game at 4-4 and he drew a two-minute penalty against the Gulls, leading to three man-up goals during the penalty. Cook picked up his first assist on the third goal of the spurt. He dished out his second assist on the man-up goal to start the fourth quarter. He closed out his scoring with a goal midway through the fourth quarter. For the year, Cook has 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists.

York senior Landry Marshall earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering nine saves and allowing just six goals in a 15-6 win over No. 7 Salisbury in the second-ranked Spartans' lone game of the week. The six goals were Salisbury's lowest offensive output in its last 59 games. Marshall recorded three saves in the opening quarter as he kept the Gulls off the board in the first 15 minutes of play. He added two second quarter saves and concluded the game with four fourth quarter stops. For the season, Marshall is 8-1 with a 5.71 goals against average and a .524 save percentage.

York is ranked No. 2, Salisbury is ranked No. 7, and Christopher Newport is ranked No. 18 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) rankings ... CNU freshman Dylan Rice led the Captains with nine points, including seven goals, in a 2-0 week. On Wednesday at Virginia Wesleyan, he tossed two points on the board in the first quarter and later added his second goal to open the third stanza on the way to the 19-7 victory. On Saturday, he erupted for six points and matched his career-high with five goals during a 13-7 win over Frostburg State. After posting two points in the first half, Rice led a huge second-half surge with three goals in the third quarter and another strike in the fourth to seal the victory. On the season, he now has 28 goals and 40 points, which both rank second on CNU's all-time single-season freshman scoring lists ... Frostburg State sophomore Jimmy Lucas scored two goals in Frostburg's 13-7 loss to No. 18 CNU ... Mary Washington junior Shane McKenzie scored a team-high six points on three goals and three assists as Mary Washington opened CAC play with a 13-11 win at St. Mary's on Saturday. Through nine games, he has scored 12 goals and added 23 assists ... Marymount freshman Clark Akers posted a career high on Saturday at Southern Virginia, notching a game-high five goals on eight shots. He leads the team in goals this year with 16 ... St. Mary's junior goalkeeper Ross Snodderly put up a career-best 17 saves for the second time this season in a tough, CAC-opening loss to Mary Washington. Ray LaPlaca scored a career-best four goals, scooped up two ground balls and a caused turnover for the Seahawks ... Salisbury junior Corey Gwin put together his fourth hat trick of the year, scoring three goals on just four shots at York ... Southern Virginia sophomore Shawn Lamb led the Knights with four goals and two assists on Saturday in CAC win over Marymount. Lamb continues to lead the CAC in assists, points, and shots, and ranks third in the conference with 25 goals. Junior goalkeeper Ian Arave earned his third win of the season vs. Marymount, saving six goals in the 13-9 victory ... Wesley freshman goalkeeper Dylan Sicca stopped 14 shots to earn his first collegiate win in net in the Wolverines' 11-7 victory over Alvernia on Saturday. Josh Wassum netted five goals along with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
