Salisbury Senior Luke Campbell and Sophomore Matthew Adedeji Sweep CAC Men's Track & Field Weekly Accolades

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury swept this week's awards as senior Luke Campbell and sophomore Matthew Adedeji were selected as the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 2, 2016.

Salisbury senior Luke Campbell was honored as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after claiming the fastest times in the nation in both the 400 meters and 60-meter hurdles at the George Mason Patriot Games. Campbell placed first in the 400 at 49.07 seconds, breaking his own CAC record by .19 seconds. He followed that up with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.04 seconds. Campbell also helped the Sea Gulls' 4x400-meter relay team to a third-place mark with a time of 3:21.17, which currently sits fourth in the nation.

Salisbury sophomore Matthew Adedeji was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after tallying a pair of top-five finishes at the George Mason Patriot Games. Adedeji took third in the triple jump with a mark of 44'-9.75", the top mark in the CAC this season and 34th in the nation. He also placed fifth in the high jump with a 6'-2.25" effort.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury is ranked No. 19 in the Week 1 USTFCCCA National Rankings ... All six CAC teams competed last week ... The CAC Championship is less than three weeks away, set for Sunday, Feb. 21 at Christopher Newport ... Cullen Monahan helped lead CNU's Distance Medley Relay team to the top time in the nation during the Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track last weekend. Running the second leg, he posted a time of 50.62 in the 400-meter portion of the event on the way to an overall clocking of 10:09.56. That time is the fastest in Division III this year, out-pacing second-place Tufts by nearly nine full seconds (10:18.39) ... Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery won the shot put (53'-7.75") at the Bison Open at Bucknell ... Mary Washington's Daniel Forjan finished fifth in the weight throw and eighth in the shot put at George Mason on Saturday ... Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Vladhimir Theophile won the 400 meter dash at the Bison Open with a time of 50.90 ... Wesley junior Will Taylor earned a pair of event wins at the Muhlenberg Invitational, taking first in the 800m (2:00.81) and the 1,000m (2:39.52) races. Senior De'Vaughn Trader turned in a first-place finish in the long jump (22'-2.25"), setting the top mark in the CAC this season and 39th nationally ... Sophomore Grant Dell had York's top finish at the Bucknell Bison Open on Friday, finishing 10th of 42 runners in the 5,000 meters in a personal-best 15:21.81. Alex Palescandolo finished fourth in the shot put and first among Division III throwers. He has been York's top thrower in all of its events this winter.
