YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Jordan Roach and Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery were honored as the CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for March 22, 2017.

Christopher Newport junior Jordan Roach was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after posting the top time in the conference in the 110-hurdles at the Tribe Invitational. Roach placed second overall and first among Division III competitors in the 110-hurdles, clocking in at 15.49. That time ranks 17th in the nation this spring. He also registered the meet's top distance in the long jump with a 6.70-meter leap. That effort also leads the conference and ranks 12th in the country so far this year.

Field Athlete of the Week

J.R. Lowery | Frostburg State | Sr.

Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery was named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after winning a pair of events with two of the top marks in the nation at the UMW Invitational last weekend. Lowery opened his outdoor season with victories in the shot put (16.21m) and hammer throw (52.15m). Both marks rank atop the CAC, while he ranks second in the nation in the shot put and third in the hammer.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC track & field teams competed last week ... Christopher Newport competed at the Tribe Invitational at William & Mary. Khiry Weaver finished second in the triple jump (13.65m) for the Captains. His mark ranks first in the CAC and eighth in the nation. He also came in second in the high jump at 1.80m ... Freshman Camron Rauch helped Mary Washington to three first place finishes at the first UMW Invitational in their first meet at their new facility. Rauch was a member of the winning 4x100 relay at 43.83 seconds, Rauch took first in the 100 meters at 11.40 seconds and first in the 200 meters at 23.21 seconds. Junior Daniel Forjan took first in the discus at 136 feet, one inch at the UMW Invitational on Saturday ... Penn State Harrisburg will open its spring season this weekend at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna ... Salisbury's William Fountain finished fourth in the pole vault at the 49er classic, clearing the bar at a height of 13' 7.7" ... Southern Virginia participated in its second outdoor meet of the season at Washington & Lee last weekend. Derek Blasko participated in the shot put, discus, and javelin for the Knights, placing sixth in the shot put with a personal best mark of 13.58m. He also placed seventh in javelin and 15th in discus. ... Wesley will open its spring on Friday, March 31 at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener ... York's meet at Elizabethtown was cancelled due to snow.
