FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State senior Robert Romano & Penn State Harrisburg senior Cameron Yon were selected as CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 2, 2019.

Frostburg senior Robert Romano won the 1,500-meter run by posting the only sub-4:00.00 time (3:56.49) at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna...This time marks the best in the conference, more than 4.5 seconds faster than next quickest and 11th in the country...He also placed fourth in the 800 at 1:58.08.

Penn State Harrisburg senior Cameron Yon opened the 2019 outdoor season with a bang when he won the discus throw in dominant fashion at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday. The senior set a new PR with a top mark of 56.27 meters; a number good enough to rank him first in the country in the event by nearly four meters. Among NCAA Division III athletes at SU, he also earned top-five finishes in the shot put and the hammer throw.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

York's Justin Smyth had a strong showing at York's first outdoor meet of the year. Smyth finished third in the 10,000 meter run at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University. Smyth registered a time of 33:12.61...York's Michael Richardson finished eighth in the pole vault with a best height of 3.75 meters at the Jim Taylor Invitational. ...Salisbury's Ethan Binnix posted a great outing at the Blue & Silver Challenge earning an individual fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash while helping the 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish. In the 200-meter dash Binnix came home in a time of 22.79 seconds. Then in the 4x400-meter relay Binnix helped the team come home in 3:26.14. That time currently is the 17th best in the nation for all Division III relay teams...Salisbury's Jeffrey McInnis turned in a solid performance over the weekend at the Blue & Silver Challenge. McInnis captured the men's team first victory of the day in the long jump posting a mark of 22' 0.25" to earn the win. He went on to post a fourth-place finish in the triple jump behind a jump of 40' 2.75." His long jump mark currently ranks 36th in the nation for Division III. ...Christopher Newport's Adam Wosahla won the 800 at the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. During the race, the freshman crossed the line in 1:54.42, which marks the 11th fastest clocking in the NCAA this year. It is also a full second faster than the next best time in the CAC this season and stands as the 10th-best clocking in CNU history...Southern Virginia's Derek Blasko maintained his dominance in the shot put winning the event at the Jim Taylor Invitational with a mark of 15.26m placing him 13th in Division III...The Mary Washington men competed at Goucher on Saturday with 134 points, just one off of Virginia Wesleyan's 135. The Eagles saw victories from Ripken Smith in the shot put at 43 feet, 9.25 inches as well as in the discus at 137 feet, nine inches. He also took second in the hammer throw at 159 feet, 10 inches. Other top performances from the men included David Danek taking first in the high jump at six feet, six inches, Daniel Lee taking second in the javelin at 148 feet, two inches; Bryce McAlpine finishing first in the 400 meter hurdles at 57.92 seconds; and the 4x400 meter relay of Chris HallAndrew SouthAlec Biles, and Laurence Sneed which took first at 3:25.97.
