FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury's Zachary Stump & Penn State Harrisburg's Jalil Clayton were selected as CAC Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 9, 2019.

Penn State Harrisburg senior Jalil Clayton earned a pair of victories in the hurdle events at the 37th Millersville Metrics on Saturday, April 6. The senior posted new season-best marks of 14.68 seconds in the 110m hurdles before running a time of 54.54 seconds to win the 400m hurdles by nearly a full second. His time in the 110m hurdles currently ranks eighth-fastest in the country, while his 400m hurdles mark is the 15th-quickest effort in the nation. He also comprised the second leg of the program's 4x100m relay team that came away with a top-five finish at the event.

Salisbury freshman Zachary Stump not only earned the the victory in the pole vault over the weekend at the Towson Invite but he also set a new school record in the event. Stump cleared the bar at a height of 15' 1" which surpasses the previous mark of 15' set by Kris Greenwell set 15 years ago in 2004. His height currently ranks him in a three-way tie for 18th in the nation.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

York's Michael Richardson finished seventh in the pole vault at the Millersville Metrics Meet on Saturday at Millersville University. Richardson had a best height cleared of 3.85 meters (12' 7.5")...The Spartans' best performance on Saturday at the Millersville Metrics Meet came from senior Ray Smith as he won the 10,000-meter run by over five seconds. Smith finished more than a minute and a half in front of the next Division III runner. It was the first time in Smith's career that he competed in a collegiate 10K. Smith's time is the third best in the CAC this year...Mary Washington hosted the Battleground Relays this weekend, with several top performances. Ripken Smith took first in the hammer throw at 155 feet, as UMW finished 1-2-3 in the event. David Danek won the high jump at 6'6", Ben Onguene won the triple jump at 39' 6", and Daniel Lee won the javelin at 132'10"...On Saturday, the men saw the distance medley relay (Burklow, Biles, South, Tinsley) take first at 10:57.67, Chris Hall won the 400 meters at 50.30, Smith won the discus at 141'4" and was third in the shot put, and Rajai Walton won the long jump at 6.92 meters....Frostburg State's Clayton Washington won both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, posting a 22.84 in the 200 and 51.36 in the 400 at the Bobcat Invitational at FSU ... Washington also helped the 4x400-meter relay team to second place in 3:24.32...Salisbury's Ethan Gray turned in a solid outing for the maroon and gold at the Towson Invite as he garnered a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Gray came home in a time of 10:17.37, which was a seven second improvement from his first attempt in the event last week at the Blue & Silver Challenge...Christopher Newport's Clark Edwards posted a PR in the 1500 during the Colonial Relays on Friday at William & Mary. During the race, the freshman finished second among Division III competitors with a time of 3:56.94. That clocking moved him to second in the South / Southeast Region this year and marked the 10th-best time in program history.
