YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Caitlin Lake and Frostburg State junior Allison Short were honored as the CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 27, 2017.

Salisbury senior Caitlin Lake received CAC Player of the Week honors after batting .700 with three extra-base hits last week for the Sea Gulls. Lake went 7-for-10 at the plate and reached base at a .750 clip while posting a slugging percentage of 1.400. Three of her seven hits went for extra bases with a pair of triples and a home run, her third of the year. She knocked in three runs and scored five times on the week for the Sea Gulls.

Frostburg State junior Allison Short was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-1 with a 1.30 ERA in four appearances last week. Short nearly tossed a pair of no-hitters, allowing just one hit in a win over Bridgewater (Va.) and surrendering two hits in a win over York. In between those two victories, she allowed three hits in a complete-game victory at Catholic. For the week, she totaled 14 strikeouts while allowing five earned runs and 17 hits in 27.0 innings of work. She did not walk a batter in any of her four appearances.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the NFCA March 22 rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 20 ... CNU junior Leah Andrews led the Captains to a 3-1 mark and 2-0 start in CAC play. She hit .533 (8-for-15) with four RBIs, six runs scored, two triples, and a home run. Aubrey Bates recorded two wins on the mound for CNU, improving to 7-2 for the season. The freshman threw four innings allowing one run at Wesley, and hurling six shutout frames vs. Penn State-Behrend while yielding just two hits ... Sophomore Kara Deppe helped UMW to its first win over Salisbury since 2008, gaining a 5-1 win over the Sea Gulls on Saturday. Deppe allowed two hits in seven innings, walking six and striking out six, and allowing one unearned run in the game. Freshman Hannah Bruns led Mary Washington at the plate, gaining six hits in 10 at bats. She went 1-for-3 in a 3-0 loss at No. 10 Va. Wesleyan, and then went 5-for-7 in UMW's Saturday twinbill with Salisbury. ... Southern Virginia sophomore Tara Hilton led team with a .385 batting average and 7 RBIs last week, including a three-run homer in a win against Mary Baldwin. Hilton leads the team in RBIs and stolen bases this season. Freshman Megan Harmon went 2-2 on the mound last week with a pair of complete-game shutouts and a no-hitter against Mary Baldwin. She struck out 10 in the doubleheader sweep of Mary Baldwin ... Wesley senior Devin Mackay recorded an RBI in each of Wesley's four games on the week while hitting for .429 at the plate. Mackay currently has a seven-game hitting streak and a nine-game on-base streak. Lindsay Siok tallied two wins in a doubleheader sweep over Delaware Valley. Siok sits second in the CAC in wins with eight ... York freshman Ginger Lewis went 1-1 last week with a 0.48 ERA in 14.2 innings of work, allowing 10 hits and striking out 14 with one walk. She notched a complete-game shutout in a 5-0 win over Hood last Tuesday.
