Christopher Newport senior Leah Andrews was honored as the CAC Player of the Week for the second time this season after smacking three home runs with 12 RBIs and nine runs scored in a 3-1 weekend for the Captains, who advanced to the CAC Championship. Andrews went 6-for-12 at the plate with a grand slam, a three-run homer, a two-run shot and a double. She also managed four walks, posting a .625 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 1.333.

Christopher Newport sophomore Laura Kate Moss was selected as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 against Penn State Harrisburg and Frostburg State, helping the Captains advance to the CAC Championship. Moss went the distance in both wins, striking out a total of eight batters in 12 innings of work. She got the start in the deciding game of the three-team CAC Tournament pod and responded with a two-hit shutout against Frostburg State to lead the Captains to the final vs. Salisbury. She allowed just six hits and four earned runs in her 12 innings in the circle, tallying a 2.33 ERA.

Top-seeded Christopher Newport and second-seeded Salisbury won their respective pods on the opening weekend of the CAC Tournament last weekend, setting up a championship matchup between the Captains and Sea Gulls for the fourth time in the last five years ... CNU will host Salisbury in the best-of-three championship series, beginning Friday at Captains Park in Newport News, Va. ... In the April 25 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 Poll, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 11 ... Frostburg State senior Allison Short won three games last week and helped the Bobcats to the final game of the CNU pod of the CAC Tournament. Her three wins gave her 51 for her career, setting a new school record ... Senior Caroline Callahan led Mary Washington with three hits in seven at bats in the first round of the CAC Tournament ... Penn State Harrisburg junior Allison Hartman hit .545 (6-for-11) last week with a home run and six RBIs ... Salisbury junior Cat Ramagnano had a hit in three of Salisbury's four games in the CAC tournament, but her defense is what put her over the top for the Sea Gulls last weekend. In right field, Ramagnano had seven chances and a perfect 1,000 fielding percentage, but was able to seal Salisbury's trip to the CAC championship series with two stellar defensive plays as York was threatening to score in the seventh inning. At the plate, Ramagnano hit .444 with four RBIs and scored five times ... York freshman outfielder Ashley Meekins hit .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two home runs and nine RBIs, helping the Spartans advance to the CAC semifinals before falling to Salisbury. Sophomore pitcher Ginger Lewis went 3-1 with a trio of shutouts, tossing 25.1 innings and striking out 24 with a 2.21 ERA.
